Misty Clifton Engineering (2017) is a 51% Aboriginally owned and operated start-up engineering consulting company co-founded by Misty Ventures Inc and Clifton Associates. With our head office based in Saskatchewan, Misty Clifton Engineering draws on our experience serving and living in the prairie provinces to specialize in civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineering. We are committed to collaborating with clients to design innovative solutions while fulfilling the business development and education strategies of the Mistawasis First Nation and Iron Buffalo Training Centre. Our work is primarily focused on the Resources, Transportation, Land Development, and Government business sectors.
Clifton has 39 years experience delivering technical solutions involving soils, rock, water, and air in Western Canada. Our mission is to provide solutions that manage the Earth’s resources responsibly while reflecting the values of our clients. Over the years, we have established roots in the Prairie communities. The Civil Engineering Practice Group works with government agencies, private corporations, and local municipalities to design and construct highways, roadways, airports, pipelines, and other linear infrastructure. Our four areas of expertise include Civil Design, Transportation, Construction Management, and Geomatics Engineering. We have delivered thousands of infrastructure projects in Alberta and Saskatchewan providing overall management of preliminary investigations, assistance with applications, detailed design, tender preparation, construction supervision, and final inspections.
The Earth Sciences Practice Group provides a comprehensive geological, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and geophysical services for a variety of sectors such as oil and gas, mining, quarries, railways, highways, agricultural and food processing, irrigation, land development, and public works. Our earth science and engineering services include foundation analysis and design for commercial and industrial facilities; seismic site classification; slope stability investigation and remediation of landslides for railways, highways, bridges, pipelines, transmission towers, and buildings; dam safety reviews for major earthen dams and tailings facilities; design of cofferdams and dewatering systems for construction in water bodies; terrain analysis and hazard mapping for land development; and geohazard risk assessments for pipelines and highways. Our non-destructive and non-invasive geophysical tools complement and support our geotechnical and environmental engineering services.
Our Environmental Practice Group has the expertise to handle environmental projects through every phase – from the planning and investigation stage through to the decommissioning and reclamation of a property. Our areas of expertise include planning, baseline studies, environmental impact assessments, environmental audits, site assessments, compliance monitoring and reporting, permitting and licensing, spill control and remediation, tailings and waste management, decommissioning and reclamation plans, and risk assessment and management. Our comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes in Western Canada and our established relationships with regulatory agencies are added advantages to advance projects smoothly.
Our six laboratories located throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan allow us to provide materials testing services on soil, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and ballast materials. Project work conducted by our materials engineers includes field quality control of materials, supervision during construction, and construction surveys.
Misty Clifton Engineering will work closely with Iron Buffalo to provide training for those who are interested in pursing a career in engineering. We make sure each person is adequately trained and receives the necessary experience and guidance to perform.
A typical career path in the consulting engineering industry is starting as a Junior gaining valuable information and experience on their path to becoming a Senior consulting engineer.
