Since 2015, the goal has been to build Misty Ventures, the economic development entity of Mistawasis Nêhiyawak. With the focus of Misty Ventures on “growth” through investment opportunities and partnerships the company has grown yet sustained its current partnerships with HCC Group, Misty Chemco, Misty Clifton Engineering and its newest partner NCS Fluid Systems while at the same time creating relationship agreements such as Awasis 4-6 alliance (FLFN Ventures Ltd. and Misty Ventures Inc.) and within the solar and wind industries with Kiyam Solar LP, Iskotew Solar LP, Potentia Renewables and M2 Renewables.

Misty Ventures companies are well positioned within Saskatchewan’s key industries of construction, mining, oil and gas and renewable energy. As we continue to grow our capacity, and focus our efforts on investment integration, within these sectors and continue to pursue both beneficial investments and partnerships that are a “fit” with the vision, mission and values of Misty Ventures Inc.

Robert (Bobby) Daniels

Robert (Bobby) Daniels

President/CEO

Robert worked for 11 years with the Provincial Government with Social Services in various positions such as Young Offenders, Child Protection, Family Preservation, and a Judicial Interim Release worker. In 2005, Robert moved away from the social work field to obtain his Business Management diploma through SIIT. The next step in his career, with his strong background and work experience, took him on his path to achieving his MBA from the University of Saskatchewan in 2008. After graduation Robert started at the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies as part of the Senior team as a Director in Marketing and Communications. After 8 years of working in the Education and Training field and alongside some strong mentors Robert decided it was time to take his practical and life experience to assist his own nation Mistawasis Nêhiyawak.

In 2016, Robert (Bobby) Daniels became the President/CEO of Misty Ventures, the economic development arm of Mistawasis Nêhiyawak. This position included a lot of challenging work ahead from the team in Mistawasis Nêhiyawak that included the Chief and Council, the creation of an Independent Board of Directors, and with the help of several professional colleagues Misty Ventures Inc. became a reality.

From 2016, the first business for Mistawasis was a gas station named Misty Petroleum and is the “flagship” of Misty Ventures. Misty Ventures has grown to own its second 100% owned entity RST Maintenance as of Sept 2022.

Today in 2024 the community of Mistawasis Nêhiyawak has created a strong foundation of economic development with 11 successful entities that are part of the Misty Ventures Group. The portfolio of group of companies is primarily Mining, Oil & Gas, Engineering, Retail, Property Maintenance, Self-Storage, Water Solutions, Renewable Energy, Electrical, Hydro Vac Trucks, Directional Drilling, Fiber Optics and General Construction.

With his years of business experience, involvement on numerous boards, and large network of contacts, Bobby is a fundamental asset and catalyst for Misty Ventures now and into the future.

Chairman of the Board

Steven is an undergraduate of the College of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan.  Steven has served as the Board of Director for the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Saskatchewan and continues with involvement in a number of local boards/committees. Steven serves as the Chair of the Misty Ventures Board and as a Band Councillor with Mistawasis Nehiwayak with previous experience in the role of the Chief Financial Officer for Mistawasis Nehiwayak. He continues to grow his political and national network with his affiliation with LABRC and FNFA (First Nations Finance Authority) and brings a strong financial background and leadership perspective to the Misty Ventures board. He firmly believes in the potential that exists in the people and the nation of Mistawasis.

Dave Tamney is a dynamic project and business leader with a strong foundation in engineering and business. Dave’s expertise lies in optimizing operations, ensuring organizations deliver their strategic goals. With a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder goals, Dave is adept at navigating complex business relationships. Dave has been involved with both creating and sustaining numerous meaningful partnerships between Indigenous and industrial partners. Dave’s goal is to implement innovative strategies that not only enhance business outcomes but also prioritize sustainable development and community engagement.

Greg Pechawis brings strong roots from the community of Mistawasis Nehiwayak, as a generational farmer. Greg ‘s involvement with Misty Ventures since its inception continues to provide a wealth of community focused interest and key stakeholder relationships. He has served as Band Councillor and has presently been on the Board of Misty Ventures for over 10 years, as well as now serves on the Board of Misty Clifton Engineering. Greg is actively involved on and off the reserve providing assistance in the trades with the Iron Buffalo Centre.
