We are looking for a Board Director to join our team based in Saskatchewan.

Position Overview:

Board members will serve staggered terms of two and three years. Over the past nine years, Misty Ventures has made significant investments and formed strategic partnerships, resulting in substantial growth in its business activities. This is an exciting period for the development corporation, which has rapidly and effectively established itself as a sustainable organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and approving governance documents as required, such as but not limited to annual budget, financial statements, policy and procedures, administration, external audit, strategic plan, loans, business transactions, and annual reports.
  • Meet on a quarterly basis unless special meeting(s) are requested to respond to the demand of business activity and governance.
  • Understand and adhere to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Goals of the organization.
  • Supporting, appointing, and evaluating the President/CEO of the organization.
  • Overseeing due diligence and Risk Management.
  • Signing a Code of Conduct and disclosing any conflicts of interest.
  • Could be requested to be a signing officer for the corporation or for financial controls.
  • Represent Misty Ventures in a positive manner.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Closed application process for Mistawasis Nehiwayak members only.
  • Previous experience working with a for-profit Board.
  • Must be willing to provide a Criminal Record check upon request.
  • Understanding of Economic Development in First Nation communities.
  • Post-secondary training in any field that is relevant to the business environment of Misty Ventures.
  • The ability to understand financial literacy.
  • Knowledge and network of the broader business community.
  • The ability to attend meetings during business hours when needed.
  • May require drug & alcohol testing as needed.
  • Travel may be required.
